Aequs’ CSR initiatives are moored to the belief that corporate growth is concomitant with community wellbeing.
With a deep-rooted belief that a company’s growth is inexorably linked to the wellbeing of the communities around it, Aequs kicked off its community connect program in 2016 by establishing the Aequs Foundation.
And true to its core DNA, which is science and technology, the corporate social responsibility arm of Aequs too picked up a mandate to positively impact communities in and around its manufacturing ecosystems by inspiring and educating underprivileged children, primarily in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) apart from contributing to sanitation and safety aspects of communities, at large. The aim is to bring measurable and sustainable changes to the society around us and improve the quality of life through various community and regional initiatives.
Aequs Foundation has particularly focused on imparting education through experiential learning and developmental activities apart from training teachers and contributing to improve school infrastructure.
The Foundation runs the Anasuya Melligeri Science & Technology Centre at Hubbali to provide hands-on exposure to students in the STEM curriculum. In Belagavi, it runs Mobile Science Laboratories to benefit students at government schools apart from a host of other initiatives in the two cities. To date, the CSR initiatives of Aequs have impacted nearly 13,000 students across 83 schools in 69 villages in the Belagavi and Hubbali regions of Karnataka.

Education Programs
We cover a broad range of educational and developmental activities, impacting students across varying levels of education. The 10,000 sq. ft. Anasuya Melligeri Science and Technology Center at Hubli is intended to provide hands-on science training to students in the area. In Belagavi, we run two Mobile Science Laboratories, not only enabling hands-on learning of STEM education for students but also aiding in Teacher Training Programs, organizing Science Fairs and Digital Learning.
Under the STEM Education program, we organize teacher training workshops focused on imparting the best teaching practices and latest activity-based teaching methodologies, which are aimed at maximizing student potential.
The ‘Ignite’ program is designed towards career alignment, self-development, cultivation of soft skills and personality development for students. Periodic college and industry visits for students are organized as a part of this program.
The ‘After-School’ program at various centres provides training after school hours to children.
Our ‘Grow Green Program’ promotes the use of eco-friendly practices in schools by providing environmental education to students. Tree Plantation drives and the establishment of a Rainwater Harvesting System are outcomes of this initiative.
Health and Hygiene Program
With the aim to provide infrastructural support and create awareness in government schools in and around Belagavi on hygiene and sanitation, the Aequs Foundation undertakes multiple projects under the Nirmal Shale Hygiene Program and the Spandana Health Program.
The Nirmal Shale Health Program helps create better health and hygiene infrastructure while simultaneously encouraging behavioural and attitudinal changes towards best practices among students and teachers. Through fruitful collaborations with organizations such as the Rotary Club of Belgaum, we are able to create a better impact and touch more lives.
The Spandana Health Program provides free comprehensive health assessments, eye check-ups and dental check-ups for students at government schools in Belagavi. Through this program, we aim to assess and set up a baseline, helping us arrive at appropriate medical interventions, thereby improving not only the overall health of the students but ultimately impacting their day-to-day learnings as well.
Safety Program
Aequs’ safety awareness program aims at providing first aid training to teachers, thereby enhancing the safety practices at schools. Additionally, teachers are equipped with first aid kits to be better prepared for safety requirements.
Aligning with the company’s strategic goals, the Aequs Foundation has adopted a systematic approach while designing multiple projects to drive an amplified impact on society that are measurable and sustainable.
We believe in a project-based approach, wherein each project is strategically aligned to the company’s overall goals. This is achieved by setting milestones, which are periodically measured and monitored. Harmony of projects is essential to affect a multidimensional and amplified impact. With this in mind, we strive to achieve complete synchronicity between each of our projects. For instance, the undertaking of constructing toilet blocks for schools is further complemented by our health and hygiene awareness and education programs. Long-term sustainability is critical for any program to have a lasting impact. Programs with short term impact are akin to placing a band-aid on a deep wound.
